The Infinite Energy Solar Car Challenge has been designed to promote and develop expertise in using solar and renewable technologies. High School students will take on an exciting problem-based learning challenge and design, build, and race their very own solar-powered model car.
The first 100 teams to register will receive a free solar model car kit.
Schools have the option to attend workshops run by the WA Solar Model Car Challenge Coordination Team through the year in order to expand on their knowledge of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics principles. They will also have the opportunity to ask questions relating to the planning and design of their solar car, and receive guidance from past participants of the challenge.
Students will race their solar-powered cars around the Infinite Figure-8 Track in order to determine the fastest-engineered car.
The Top 4 Teams will be invited to represent Western Australia at the Australia International Solar Model Car Challenge. All Top 4 Teams will receive prize money to assist with their travels.
